Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum is the only museum in the nation devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design. The museum presents compelling perspectives on the impact of design on daily life through active educational and curatorial programming. It is the mission of Cooper Hewitt's staff and Board of Trustees to advance the public understanding of design across the twenty-four centuries of human creativity represented by the museum's collection.
Cooper Hewitt was founded in 1897 by Amy, Eleanor, and Sarah Hewitt—granddaughters of industrialist Peter Cooper—as part of The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. A branch of the Smithsonian since 1967, Cooper-Hewitt is housed in the landmark Andrew Carnegie Mansion on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Launched in October 2016 as part of EDP Foundation’s long-lasting commitment to cultural patronage, the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (maat) is an international institution dedicated to fostering critical discourse and creative practice that inspire new understandings of the historical present and an empowering engagement with the common future.
Located on the riverfront of the historic district of Belém, in Lisbon, the EDP Foundation campus covers an area of 38,000 square metres and comprises a repurposed power station — the Central Tejo, an iconic example of industrial architecture originally built in 1908 — and a newly built complex designed by the London-based architecture studio AL_A (Amanda Levete Architects). Both buildings house exhibitions and events programmed by the museum and are connected by a landscape project by Lebanese architect Vladimir Djurovic.

Das Architekturmuseum wurde 1868 als Lehrsammlung für die Architekturausbildung an der Neuen Polytechnischen Schule, der Vorgängerin der heutigen Technischen Universität München, eingerichtet. Als Friedrich von Thiersch 1912 einen Neubau für die Hochschule an der Gabelsberger Straße errichtete, erhielt die Architektursammlung darin eine repräsentative Raumflucht und bildete das Zentrum der Architekturfakultät.
The Architekturmuseum was established in 1868 as a teaching collection for students of architecture at the New Polytechnic College (Neue Polytechnische Schule), the precursor to the present-day Technical University (Technische Universität München). When Friedrich von Thiersch erected a new building for the University in Gabelsbergerstrasse in 1912, the architectural collection was accommodated in a large, representative wing of the building and formed the center of the Department of Architecture.

בימים אלה מוצגת במוזיאון התערוכה "הנשף", שמספרת על יכולתה של האופנה לקחת אותנו אל עולם קסום שהכול אפשרי בו, ולו ללילה אחד. התערוכה, שמתפרשת על פני כל חללי המוזיאון, כוללת כ־120 שמלות בעיצובים היסטוריים ועכשוויים וכ־50 אביזרים שהוכנו במיוחד לתערוכה על ידי טובי המעצבים בישראל.
