Upon her retirement in 1963, Barnett was named artistic director and introduced many Balanchine masterworks into the repertoire including The Nutcracker. For more than 30 years Barnett expanded Miss Dorothy's dream of excellence. Gennadi Nedvigin became the Ballet's fourth artistic director in February 2016. Under Nedvigin’s guidance, Atlanta Ballet has established the Academy training program, which includes a top-tier performance ensemble, Atlanta Ballet 2, representing his commitment to training for the next generation of professional dancers. Atlanta Ballet is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit.
